Wilderness is the festival for people who want a weekend, not a line-up to tick off. By day you drift through Cornbury Park, lie under old oaks, catch talks, comedy or the in-house orchestra playing “Hey Jude” and still only manage a fraction of the programme. At night everyone heads to the Valley, a woodland amphitheatre with lasers and disco balls, adults only and only on Friday and Saturday until 3 am.

The crowd is mixed and full of families: parents dance in glitter at night, kids sit on shoulders for the big names. Solo travellers easily find company, often on the shuttle or at the next tent. Long-time guests see the festival getting posher and thinner: Letters Live and the choir are gone, brand bars and VIP corners have arrived, and in 2026 several found the line-up weak.

Check first

  • Expect extra costs: the sauna and some workshops are paid extras, food and bars are seen as expensive, and at the stalls you can only pay by card.
  • Nudity is part of it: respectful, non-sexual nudity by adults is allowed during the day in the camping areas, at the lakes and in the arena; the exceptions are the family camping and family area, the sauna and spa, indoor spaces except seated events, and crowded areas.
