Weinturm Open Air is a festival for winding down, not for going wild. It takes place on a plateau above Bad Windsheim, right next to the old watchtower that gives the festival its name. An association runs the whole thing with around 200 volunteers, and has done since the late 1970s. In 2026 the press counted around 3,000 guests and 1,000 children, and the police did not have to turn out once.
Around 20 bands play the Weinturm stage, well-known names alongside many small ones. The Kleinturm stage next door starts in the morning with yoga and ends at night with a DJ, with poetry, cabaret and a kids' programme in between. 2026 brought a hobby horse tournament, 2024 crowdsurfing in an inflatable dinghy. Boomboxes are banned in the camp, the association would rather hear guitars and drums; at the bar there is Franconian wine from the winemaker and Kirchweih beer.

Check first
- Tickets often go fast, and only tents are allowed on the plateau; campervans stay down at the Talzeltplatz campsite. According to an older visitor review, the last climb up to the site had no lighting; if you walk up at night, better pack a head torch. Dogs stay at home.
Right for you
- You want three relaxed days of music, cabaret and Franconian wine and don't mind kids chasing soap bubbles around you. If you're after excess, you're better off elsewhere.
