Here a city sings its own songs: in 2025, thousands in the park joined Pulp on “Common People”.
- By tram to the park
- Into the Trees kids’ world
- Lots of regulars
Tramlines is the festival Sheffield throws for itself: three July days in Hillsborough Park, British guitar bands and hometown heroes like Pulp or Reverend and the Makers, and in between old pop hits that get the whole field dancing. In front, families lie on blankets with kids in ear defenders, three generations sing side by side, and right at the front stand the teenagers.
New bands play the Leadmill tent, and it gets tight there: the crowd jams at the entrance while there’s often still room inside. Comedy runs in the afternoons, the festival pub Open Arms has karaoke and music bingo, and things wrap up around ten. If you want to listen in reverent silence, this isn’t the place: even during Pulp, people all around were talking.

Check first
- Once you leave the park, you generally can’t get back in the same day. Parents taking kids home sort out their return at the Customer Service stand; according to the 2026 Access pack, Access guests can come back before 7:30 pm.
- Eat beforehand and pack an empty bottle that isn’t glass: your own food stays outside, except baby food and special dietary needs, water is free, payment is card or contactless only, and in 2024 guests waited over an hour for food at peak times.
Right for you
- You want big British bands and songs to sing along to, would rather sleep in a bed than a tent, and are bringing kids or parents. From 16, teens can come on their own; younger ones only with an adult companion aged 21 or over.
