Here the festival starts two days before the official opening: from Wednesday the camp builds its own floors out of pallets and bass bins, and DJs play until morning.

SonneMondSterne has been electronic music by the water since 1997: a good 33,000 people, eight stages on the shore of the Bleiloch Reservoir. Big names like Skrillex or Scooter on the main stage, hard techno in the tents, barefoot dancing in the sand on the beach until Sunday morning. Regulars find the main stage too mainstream and move on to the other floors.

At camp the party carries on: flunkyball with taped-up arms, gin and tonic by the bucket, sound system battles between neighbours. Sleep? Hardly in the loud area, it works in the quiet one, and the super-quiet area is further out with a shuttle.

Check first

  • Arrive early on Wednesday: pitches can't be reserved, and latecomers often end up in the super-quiet area. Getting there and back costs hours in traffic; in 2025 guests were stuck for up to seven hours leaving the camping area.
  • When big names play, full tents get closed, so queue early.
  • Your car in the camping area, showers and activating the payment wristband cost extra; on site and in the camping area you can only pay with the wristband. Entry from 16; under 18 only with an adult who holds written parental authorisation.

Right for you

  • You're coming as a crew by car and want camp parties from Wednesday, big names at night and the lake by day. If you're after a pure techno crowd, you'll find more of a huge party.
