Rock am Ring is the evergreen among Germany’s big rock festivals: running since 1985, always at the Nürburgring except for two years in Mendig. Top of the 2026 bill were Linkin Park, Iron Maiden and Volbeat. The Eifel weather plays its part: rain, wind and cold nights come with it, even if some years stay dry.
The flip side is the size: in front of the narrow main stage it gets dangerously packed for the biggest names, and at Linkin Park in 2026 many spoke of panic. Among the crowd it still mostly stays peaceful, and if you fall or are stuck in the rain at night, strangers help out.

Check first
- Arrive early on Wednesday: good spots go fast, and traffic around the Ring backs up for hours. For 2027 there is, for the first time, a reserved area, the Boxenplatz, where your crew can also arrive separately.
- Plan your way back after the last show: at night the shuttles don’t run reliably, and the walk back to distant camps and car parks takes an hour or more.
Right for you
- You want to see the big rock and metal bands in one weekend, move into camp with your crew for five days and accept crowds and Eifel weather. If you’d rather sleep in a bed, book a guest room in the villages around early.
