Paléo is Switzerland’s biggest open-air festival: six days on fields above Nyon, a city of 50,000 people every evening. The Grande Scène hosts global stars like The Cure, but above all big French-speaking names; in front of it, teenagers, dads with a kid on their shoulders and regulars of several decades sing along.

What sets it apart happens between the stages: the Village du Monde brings a different country to the plain every year, in 2026 with a fjord and a sauna; La Ruche has circus and street theatre; and more than a hundred food stalls are a programme in themselves. The bars are run by local associations, the whole thing is carried by more than 5,000 volunteers, and guests praise above all how smoothly and warmly it all runs. What gets on your nerves: crowds in front of the headliners, clashing concerts and long walks in between.

  • Tickets sell out in minutes: buy in December or when sales open in March; after that, there’s the official resale platform and a small allocation every morning for the same evening. Even a day ticket gets you into the free campsite for the whole week; entry from age 16, minors only with a responsible adult; payment is cashless only.

  • You want a summer week of big singalongs, good food and time to wander, and you like discovering French-speaking stars you don’t know yet. If you want to be right at the front, you’ll have to get there early and wait in the crush.
