Every year Paaspop builds a village of lights and sets that reminds guests of a funfair, a theme park or Las Vegas. The music changes from tent to tent, from pop and rock to Dutch singalongs and après-ski, and you keep moving on. At Rockcafé Thunderbolt tribute bands play and guests dance on the bar.

Generations party side by side here: teenagers wait for the pop acts, their parents listen to rock next door, and the odd father stands in the pit with his son. In camp, people do paddling moves to Dutch classics and sing along; after the site closes they meet at the campfire or in the silent disco. Many have been coming for years with the same group of friends, and some groups grow every year with new tent neighbours.

Check first

  • Once a tent is full, it's closed, and with big names that happens fast. Get there early and have a plan B in the next tent.
  • Nights over the Easter weekend can get frosty: pack a warm sleeping bag for the tent. The car park fields turn into a mud trap when it rains; you're often better off taking the shuttle bus from the station or the Autotron.

Right for you

  • For crews who spend a weekend roaming the tents, singing along at full volume and bowling or throwing eggs in between, whoever is on the poster. If you want to hear quiet concerts in silence or see every band on your list, you'll often be frustrated here.
