Open Flair doesn’t happen outside town but right in the middle of Eschwege: stages on the Werra island, in the old E-Werk power station and in the castle park; from the campsite you walk to the stages in ten to twenty minutes. A non-profit association has run it since 1985 with around 2,000 volunteers, and you can tell: security staff in costumes catch crowdsurfers and cool the crowd down with a hose.
The bill is German-language punk and pop from Donots to Die Ärzte, with cabaret, poetry slam, a church service in the woods and walkabout acts in between, like a gorilla who sits down next to you. In front of the stages, metalheads in battle vests and families with kids in ear defenders sing the same song, and at the Donots’ show in 2026 the crowd carried a table-tennis table on which a fan in a wheelchair played against the singer.

Check first
- Buy early: for 2027, 80 percent of tickets were gone three weeks after the festival, and car camping is usually full from Wednesday morning. The campsite parties late into the night; with registration you’ll sleep more quietly in the Green Camp, and rain turns the farmland into a trap: in 2025 tractors towed cars onto the site.

- You like German punk and pop, enjoy wandering through town between two gigs and don’t mind families next to you. If you come alone, you’ll find a crew straight away in the self-organised camp Best of the Rest.
