Musikschutzgebiet is a festival straight from the countryside: since 2004 a non-profit association has been bringing bands to the Grünhof near Hombergshausen, just under half an hour south of Kassel. Every year the farm is transformed with so much love that you barely recognise it: bands play in the barn and the yard, electronic music runs at the Gartenfloor, and hammocks hang between the trees. The association is proud that AnnenMayKantereit and Bilderbuch played here before they made it big.
Small, homely and noticeably non-commercial – people are friendly and relaxed, and nobody has to pretend to be someone else here. Many have been coming back for years, and new acquaintances are quickly made beside the stages.

- There is hardly any mobile signal and no Wi-Fi at all, you pay cash at the food stalls, and water is scarce: drinking water at the campsite only until 1 pm, showers cold and switched off at night. The rest of the time the campsite is a landing strip for gliders – take every tent peg back with you.
