It started with a few hundred people in a cow barn, and the stages are still called Udder One and Mini Moo.

Moovin is more a sociable party in the countryside than a rave. House, reggae and drum and bass come mostly from DJs, spread across a barn with hay bales, party tents and a bus with a viewing deck; it’s a few minutes from one end to the other. Young ravers dance alongside older ones, many come from Manchester and Stockport, and many have been coming for years.
In the mornings there’s yoga and a gong bath, at night a fire show at the Fire Pit, and on Friday and Saturday a silent disco after midnight until 2 am. The downside: drinks are tokens only, and on Saturday the bar queues got long.

Check first
- You can’t bring your own alcohol, not even for your tent, and there’s no cash machine on site. The path to the car park is pitch dark at night: pack a head torch.
Right for you
- You’re over 18 and would rather party at a small festival full of friendly people than in front of a big stage. If you’re after big names or lots of live bands, you’ll probably be disappointed here.
