Mahagoni is a small festival that collectives build themselves on the Rittergut Etzdorf estate west of Halle: seven stages between sand and lake, no VIP area. The stages are hand-built, with wooden towers, homemade seating and rusty car bodies in between, and because everything is laid out in a circle, you can find your way back even in the dark. The music is techno, ambient and experimental, non-stop from Thursday evening to Sunday evening.

By day you head to the dune by the water, or to yoga, workshops and jam sessions, and between the bushes a collective has built chill-out corners and a little kiosk. The crowd is relaxed and warm, and you can take your own drinks right up to the stage as long as they're not in glass. At night, from ten to eight, the lake and the beach stage are closed.

• Plan your journey home: in 2025 around 400 people were waiting in Halle for the bus to the site, on the way back it was full, and there were no taxis. And don't leave valuables in your tent: bags were stolen from tents in 2024.
