Lalafestival is small and homemade: a non-profit association and around 300 volunteers bring a historic country estate between Kiel and Neumünster to life, spread across twelve venues and with no headliner. Between the silo, the pond and the field you get bands, electronic music, circus, short films, variety acts and art installations – colourful, quirky and off the mainstream.
The crowd ranges from toddlers to regulars who come back every year, and it is so relaxed that families and partygoers celebrate happily side by side. During the day the estate clearly belongs to the children, who are allowed on site until 10 pm; at night the electronic music keeps going. The catch: the programme is hit and miss – in 2025 guests stood in front of almost empty stages and found no timetable in advance.

- Pack sturdy shoes: the hilly field is barely surfaced, and in one rainy year cars only got off the site with help.
