Line-up
Two stages that take turns: if you want, you can catch every band of the night.
- Afternoon beach concerts
- Aftershows until morning
- Loyal bands, loyal guests
La Route du Rock is a festival for people who come for the bands and don’t need much else. The music happens in and around an 18th-century Vauban-style fort, out in the countryside nine kilometres south of Saint-Malo; the fort lets in no more than 14,000 people a night. The crowd is mostly French and fairly laid-back until a band catches fire: then it’s a mosh pit from the fourth song, or dancing in rain ponchos.
Beyond that, there isn’t much: rock in its various forms, hardly any programme without music, stone and dust instead of grass. In return, on the last night, as every year, a giant conga line called La Chenille winds through all the stage areas.

Check first
- The bottleneck is the free shuttles between Saint-Malo, the beach and the fort: long queues have formed for years, and in 2026 getting from the beach back to the music took up to an hour and a half. If you leave the fort, you can only get back in with a two- or three-day pass.
Right for you
- For a crew that hangs out by the sea in Saint-Malo during the day and heads to the fort for the gigs in the evening – holiday and festival in one.
