Hurricane is the huge weekend between Hamburg and Bremen: around 78,000 people on a motorcycle sand track near Scheeßel and the fields around it. Big names in indie, pop, rap and punk fill the line-up, but the biggest crowds often gather for German-language stars such as Ski Aggu or Nina Chuba. The weather has earned it the nickname Schauercane (Schauer is German for shower), and most people take it with good humour.
The camp matters at least as much: gazebo villages, beer pong, flunkyball straight after arrival and neighbours who help pitch your tent. In the Regular camp, which regulars call Mordor, Mallorca-style party hits play until morning; in Green Camping people party more considerately. The crowd is peaceful, the police praise it year after year, and if you come alone you quickly find people to hang out with.
