Line-up

The biggest names in metal, right in Plovdiv – music starts only in the late afternoon, but runs past midnight.

  • Stages by the rowing canal
  • Shuttle from Sofia
  • July heat in Plovdiv

Hills of Rock is Bulgaria’s big gathering for rock and metal, right next to the stadium in Plovdiv. The line-up lives on big international names, from Iron Maiden and Slipknot to Marilyn Manson; for 2026 a bonus evening with Sabaton was added in advance. Gates open in the late afternoon, and the last bands go on after midnight.

Up front it gets tight for the big names, and that’s exactly where the stories happen: the drummer holds up a sign in Bulgarian, and after the show the setlist and a pick go to the front row. Guests travel in from Varna as well as from Serbia, and anyone who’s been once wants to come back.

Check first

  • Plan your way home before the last band: after the shows ended, guests waited for over an hour at times for packed buses and for taxis that didn’t stop; in 2026 the city added night buses until 01:30. On site, bars and food stalls take contactless payment only; in the merch area cash or card both work. Water you bring loses its cap at the entrance, and guests wished there had been free drinking water points.

Right for you

  • You want the really big metal bands live, you’re happy to add a few summer days in Plovdiv, and you don’t need a camping weekend.
