You come for one band and go home with five new ones.
- Secret sets
- Wooden figure full of wishes
- Hands-on science
Green Man is the festival for people who only really read the line-up once they're there. The main stage sits in a natural amphitheatre below Crug Hywel; you sit on the slope with a coffee or a blanket, looking out over mountains and sheep pastures. The stages are close enough to switch mid-set, and the Rising Stage hosts bands that are still on their way up.
The crowd is a real mix: families with toddlers, lots of people in their thirties and forties, regulars on their tenth visit. Younger guests dance in the Far Out tent, where it gets packed and loud fast, while quiet sets are often heard in a silence so deep you could hear a pin drop. After midnight, DJs in the Walled Garden stretch the night out.

Check first
- Tickets go fast, and if you only arrive on Thursday afternoon, you'll barely find room for your tent.
- Pack warm clothes and put valuables in storage: the nights are cold, and there have been several thefts from tents.
Right for you
- For crews who let the programme surprise them instead of ticking off headliners, and who take trolleys and picnic blankets in front of the stage in their stride.
