Graspop is Belgium's big metal gathering: four days in June in Dessel, from Iron Maiden to Bad Omens. The North and South Stage take turns, with around ten minutes between two big shows. Its own character lives in the tents: in the Marquee and the Metal Dome you stand among people who know the setlists and take a midday show as seriously as the evening.
The crowd looks fearsome and is surprisingly friendly: strangers share their Coke, helpers at the barriers catch crowdsurfers for hours on end, and people come from all over Europe and beyond. The price of success: it gets crowded, especially on Saturday, and regulars argue over whether too many come just to be seen.

Check first
- Shade is scarce, and in hot years the Marquee and Metal Dome turn into a sauna; extra water points were added in 2025 and 2026, cooling in the tents only during the 2026 festival. Book your camp in advance, each with its own wristband: Boneyard is right by the grounds and comes alive at night, Inferno and Metal Town are quieter, but Metal Town is a 20 to 45 minute walk away.
