Frequency is a huge summer camp for young crews, right in the middle of a state capital: tent after tent along the riverbank, many people there days before the first band. People turn up in costume, as Teletubbies, animals or forest folk with a guarded plastic palm tree, canned beer rolls in by the pallet on handcarts, and neighbours bellow drinking toasts at each other through megaphones.
The stages run on chart pop, German rap and party hits, from Zara Larsson to Sido. The line-up is more backdrop than reason to come; the mood at camp survives weak years too. In front of the main stage, everyone sings along to whatever was big over the last ten years; older classics are met with closed mouths.

Check first
- If you want shade and short walks, come early: the good spots by the Traisen are taken during early camping from Tuesday, and that costs extra. Signs are missing and staff often can’t help, so agree on meeting points.
- Pack for heat and thunderstorms: it’s often over 30 degrees, and in 2026 the outdoor programme on Friday evening was cancelled because of a storm. The Traisen cools you down but can be shallow and full of algae in high summer; the organiser advises against swimming.
Right for you
- You're in your early 20s or younger, coming as a crew, and you want camp, river and costumes, with the big names on top. If you're after new bands or some peace and quiet, you're better off elsewhere.
