Umsonst & draussen isn’t some off-the-shelf free event but a piece of East Westphalian festival history that an association from Vlotho pulls off anew every year: a volunteer crew aged 12 to 82 pours the drinks, guides people in and clears the field afterwards. The party happens in front of the old power station on the Weser, across five stages, from rock via a techno area with lasers to the psytrance area.
The crowd is colourful and peaceful: families with children, regulars who have been coming for decades and decorate their camp afresh every year. On Sunday afternoon the younger ones head home, and the older ones get to see the bands of their youth.

Check first
- In 2027 the festival won’t take place: maize grows on the parking and camping fields that year, and the association is planning for 2028. Entry is free, camping and parking cost extra, and you’re asked to leave your own alcohol at home.
