Colours takes place in Dolní Vítkovice, a disused ironworks in the middle of Ostrava: stages between blast furnaces and pipes, an old gas holder as a seated concert hall, a glass staircase up onto the blast furnace. Global stars such as Twenty One Pilots or Moby play the main stage, but regulars make their best finds at the Full Moon Stage and the small stages. Next door, Meltingpot runs a whole talks festival whose halls are full between concerts.

In front of the stages is a crowd you rarely see: prams next to grandparents, wheelchair users on their own platforms, lots of Czech and few visitors from abroad. Tens of thousands party here remarkably calmly: no mosh pit, no rowdiness, consideration even in the densest crowd.

• Hotels in Ostrava are booked up long in advance, and the camp is separate, by the castle, about a 20-minute walk from the site. Payment is by card only, umbrellas stay outside, and in 2026 there were no regular day tickets.
