Cambridge Folk is a festival for sitting down and listening, not for partying all night. In front of the stages in Cherry Hinton Hall park lies a sea of camping chairs and picnic blankets; during quiet sets a crowd of thousands goes completely silent, and for the classics the whole tent sings along. On Saturday and Sunday the arena closes at 11 pm.
In between, you can learn singing, willow weaving or bagpipes at a workshop. The stages are only minutes apart; in the smallest tent, The Den, barely a hundred people sit on rugs in front of new bands and jump up the moment a set catches fire.

Check first
- The festival is rebuilding: in 2025 it was cancelled after a loss-making year, in 2026 it returned with two days and noticeably scaled back, and in 2027 it’s back to three.
- Camping costs extra, and there are no showers at the Cherry Hinton campsite in 2027.
Right for you
- If your crew would rather listen and sing along than hit the mosh pit, packs an instrument or brings kids: children aged 13 and under get in free in 2027, and you can bring your own food and drink.
