Line-up

Hard metal, a warm-hearted pit – and the same camp neighbours every year.

  • Bin jousting at camp
  • Themed costume days
  • New Blood stage for up-and-coming bands

Bloodstock is the metal festival you come home to. Many have been coming to Catton Park every year for ten years or more, and the site is so compact that you keep bumping into your people. Musically it runs from thrash through death to doom: big names like Gojira or Machine Head, alongside unknown bands who qualified for the New Blood stage through regional competitions.

The pit gets wild, but strangers boost you up for your first crowdsurf, kids in ear defenders sit on their parents’ shoulders, and instead of a Wall of Death there has even been a Wall of Hugs. On top of that comes a silliness with tradition: bananas and dinosaurs in the pit, tournaments on wheelie bins at camp by night.

Check first

  • In hot summers the arena lacks shade, and there’s hardly any phone signal. Pack a hat and an empty water bottle for entry, and agree fixed meeting points with your crew.

Right for you

  • You want heavy music without sharp elbows, love dressing up in silly costumes and are looking for a festival you’ll come back to every year. Even on your own you’ll quickly find company, for example at the unofficial camp for solo travellers and first-timers.
